Connect Groups

Here is the list of Connect Groups: 2022 Recharge Connect Groups

Connect Group Study One (from 1 Timothy 1-2)

  1. How is your bible-reading going (be honest) and do you find yourself noticing more comfort than challenge as you read – or vice versa?
  2. Have you experienced a ministry which leans more to law than faith (1:5-7) and what effects did such a ministry have?
  3. Paul doesn’t forget that he is a sinner saved by grace (1:12-17) but we tend to think of him as pretty perfect. What is the right estimate of him?
  4. Gather up the “all” verses (in 2:1-7) and think together as to why it is that we tend to get very parochial in our thinking and praying.
  5. Paul focusses on the priorities of prayer and preaching (in 2:1-15) as we also see in Acts 6:1-7. Does your church have these well in place?
  6. “The Church Family should reinforce the Local Family in its roles and responsibilities – not confusing things”. Do you agree?
  7. Was there anything in 1 Timothy Chapters 1 and 2 which specially spoke to you?

Connect Group Study Two (from 1 Timothy 3-4)

  1. The character qualities (in 3:1-13) should be true of all Christians but especially true of pastoral leaders – which qualities need special focus?
  2. The gift of being “able to teach” (3:2) is so crucial for the health and joy of the congregation. What does this gift look like in those who have it?
  3. Do you think that the choosing of leaders for the local church gets the care that Paul suggests (in 3:1-13) and what could be improved?
  4. In what ways can a local church hold up the truth (and love) of God – like a pillar (3:15)? Be realistic – does anyone still notice the local church?
  5. How does “one-upmanship” (4:1-5) spoil a fellowship and how can the oneness be well preserved?
  6. In whose life have you seen “progress” lately (4:15)? Why is growth often seen in others but not easily felt in ourselves?
  7. Was there anything in 1 Timothy Chapters 3 and 4 which specially spoke to you?

Connect Group Study Three (from 1 Timothy 5-6)

  1. How might the verses (in 5:1-2) help godly relationships in the church if they were carefully followed?
  2. How do the verses (5:7 and 5:14) show that once again Paul has the gospel advance on his mind and heart? [Compare 1:1 and 2:4 and 4:16].
  3. What church event (crisis or challenge or trouble) have you seen take place that needed godly wisdom to solve it (as in 5:3-16)?
  4. What three principles would you identify as being most important in 5:17-25? Write down your three then compare notes with the group.
  5. How do we know (from 6:1-5) that Paul is very concerned that our lives and words have a constructive effect on the church and the world?
  6. There are the greedy (6:6-10) and the wealthy (6:17-19) – what wise word does Paul have for each group (see 6:6 and 6:18)?
  7. Was there anything in Chapters 5 and 6 which specially spoke to you?
