The Wamberal CRC has been active in tSamasoduhe mission to the Solomon Islands for many years. Now they are involved in building a High School for the Katova District located in Isabel Province in the Solomon Islands. The need is to build 50 buildings including classrooms, dormitories, kitchens, administration facilities and staff housing. It’s a massive project but over 400 kids will get the chance to go to high school.

This project builds on 15 years of work they have already done in the district including the construction of a medical centre, housing for nursing staff, installation of sanitation in the village, and installation of water supply for the whole village. This mission is closely linked to the CRCA Mission in the Solomon Islands: SWIM. The next trip is planned for 31 October to 14 November 2019. The current team consists of 13 participants: 5 from NSW, 2 from Tasmania, 1 from WA, and 5 from Honiara/Solomon Islands. A number of CRCA churches have teamed up with the Wamberal church in these mission trips. The team will be also be supported by numerous people from Samasodu and the Katova District. The overall objective is to complete the first classroom block. This is achievable with the 20 logs that are already on site and the tools and equipment that are onsite as well. They also hope to fell 20 to 30 trees that are about 2 kms from the school site, logs that will be used in future building projects. The next building team will go in July 2020.

In just a few days the first team members depart. Planning such a mission is not an easy task. The itinerary and plans can change on an hourly basis. Just recently they finally received confirmation that they have a landing craft, dozer and excavator, and were able to get these at a reasonable rate. For many days the plans fluctuated between no shipping options at all to some very high priced options which challenged their fortitude, project viability, and budget. In all of this the team has seen God’s constant oversite and influence of the project. Praise the Lord for answered prayers.

Please keep this current team in your prayers. Boats may be cancelled or breakdown. They could end up stuck in a village they never knew existed. Problems may/will arise and their journey may in no way resemble what they had hoped to do or accomplish. You can follow the Katova High School building project on Facebook.
