November is approaching quickly which is when our next team is scheduled to travel and continue work on the Katova High School Project. We are now at the point where we need a firm commitment from people planning to be part of the November team. Dates for the project in November are;

Trip 1: Thursday 31st October, 2019 to Thursday 14th of November, 2019

• Complete classroom block
• Earthmoving and site preparation
• Up to 30 participants
• Coordinated and led by Rod Peet

Other aspects of the trip may include;

• Maintenance of existing infrastructure including water supply system, painting, repairs, ministry training.

We primarily need builders, tradespeople and skilled labourers for this project. There is also an opportunity for someone to fill the catering roll if this suits someone’s skill set. I have attached the registration form for those who are interested. At this stage we will be chartering a landing craft and travelling direct to Samasodu with machinery.

In relation to the progress of the project, here are some updates;

• The Project prospectus, bill of Quantities and final plans have been completed and submitted to the Solomon Islands Government
• The Honourable Jerry Manele (Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade) is currently finalising government funding for aspects of the project.
• Fundraising efforts have continued and we have around $30K in the bank which includes pledges and donations. We will need around $40K to complete the November Projects.

Please circulate this information to anyone you may believe is interested in joining a team or supporting us financially.  For more info about registration:  2019-2020 SWIM Mission
